Global technology outage: Flights, banks, 911 centers, media outlets affected

A global technology outage grounded flights, knocked banks and hospital systems offline and media outlets off air on Friday in a massive disruption that affected companies and services around the world and highlighted dependence on software from a handful of providers.

What was affected? Hospitals, shipping, media, airlines, airports, payment platforms for online shopping, banks, and 911 emergency services.

So, what happened supposedly? Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack — and that a fix was on the way. The company said the problem occurred when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows. But hours after the problem was first detected, the disarray continued — and escalated.

So here is why I am posting about this. Confusion, panic, and a media information blackout is easy to create. Just a "glitch" away. Everything can be turned off basically without an EMP and just as easily turned back on when needed/wanted. Keep this in mind. We can literally be thrown in dark without any information, ability to communicate with loved ones, creating confusion and panic. Are you ready for something like that?

Our global overlords are losing the ground they have gained. They need a massive event to save us all from which makes something like this, only bigger, a possibility. To save us, all they have to do is turn it all back on. Easy peasy.

Are you ready for a tech meltdown? Ready to deal with the heat in the summer? Cold in the winter? Not knowing how long the situation will last? Food? What water sources can you easily get to on foot? What resources are immediately around you? Would you stay or leave?

Think about all the things that would suddenly no longer work or be available. What the plan?
