This extraordinary place holds many visible mysteries, which you’ll understand better if you know a little about its past. I know Seville and the Plaza de España quite well, since I shared many stories about my experience there in 2019–2020.

This event was held to welcome Spain’s former colonies, which means they invited much of South America, as well as Portugal and the United States.

It might just be a joke from my travel agency, but it’s a nice symbol if you think about it. Aníbal González Álvarez-Ossorio is an architect I talked about a lot during my tours. He was a Spanish architect who designed beautiful buildings, such as the Plaza de América and, of course, the Plaza de España. His style is very easy to recognize, and as you walk around Seville, you can tell that they’re all the work of the same designer.

The reason Seville isn't represented is that the architects thought, “Why bother? You just have to walk a quarter of an hour to downtown, and you'll find all the information you need.” There's some truth to that, though it's a shame; I would have enjoyed a bench that honored Seville.

Except for local residents, there are a few government offices, including the immigration office, which I had to visit frequently after moving to Seville. The Plaza de España and María Luisa Park in Seville are two iconic sites in the Andalusian capital. The origins of this area, located along the Guadalquivir River, date back to 1929, when the city underwent significant urban growth due to the Ibero-American Exposition.

Para este evento, fue necesario construir diversos pabellones que albergarían las oficinas y sedes previstas, un acontecimiento que no se repetiría hasta 1992 en esta misma ciudad: la exitosa "Expo'92".
