Mr. Jones (2019)

I really don’t like calling this a movie review, because I hate spoilers, and I also know that everyone has different tastes and opinions.

So instead, this will be more of a ramble about the real events the film is based on—and of course, it’s just my humble opinion.

In the movie Mr. Jones , we discover that the world hasn’t changed. The press remains a tool for mass manipulation.

It’s hard to understand how a Pulitzer Prize could be awarded to a journalist who doesn’t investigate and distorts the truth just to enjoy certain privileges and benefits.

Then there’s the political aspect: why, even after alleged collusion with a government for propaganda purposes was revealed, the award was not revoked.

And finally, the historical aspect. The Holodomor is a historical event that was initially covered up, and even later, it never received the level of attention it deserved, given the scale of the tragedy.

That’s why watching films like Mr. Jones is important—to learn more about what has happened in the world, and to acknowledge the people who risked—and lost—their lives for their ideals.

Realmente no me gusta decir que esto es un Review de Películas, porque detesto el spoiler, y también sé que cada persona tiene gustos distintos y opiniones diferentes.

Por eso, más bien este será un divague sobre los hechos en que se basa la película, y por supuesto es solo mi humilde opinión.

En la película Mr. Jones descubrimos que el mundo sigue siendo igual. La prensa sigue siendo un mecanismo de manipulación de masas.

No se entiende cómo un premio Pulitzer puede tener como ganador a un periodista que no investiga y que tergiversar la verdad para gozar de ciertos privilegios y beneficios.

Además está el tema político, de por qué aún después de saberse la posible complicidad con un gobierno para hacer propaganda, el premio no se le retiró.

Y finalmente está el tema histórico. El Holodomor es un evento histórico que inicialmente se intentó ocultar, pero luego no tuvo la relevancia que hubiera debido tener, considerando la magnitud de la tragedia.

Por eso es bueno ver películas como Mr. Jones, para conocer un poco más de lo que pasó en el mundo, y dar reconocimiento a las personas que se jugaron la vida y la perdieron en pos de sus ideales.

Por más Mr. Jones en el mundo.
