Caturday: Not Much of a Thing on Blurt?

Greetings, Fine Felines and Hoomans of Blurtlandia!

In our "quiet" endeavor to pick up blogging on Blurt again, we decided to have a look around for other cat content in the community.

After all, yesterday was "Caturday" so it would make sense that it would be the peak posting day for cat content, right?

It's cool that Blurt has its own Caturday Community , so that seemed like a good starting point.

I was a little sad to see that it had been a month since anyone last posted... aside from my own post, yesterday.

In fact, our own last Caturday post — from back in March — was still on the front page of the community. Really? Only six posts in six months?

But no need to give up so easily!

I figured that perhaps the caturday TAG would yield better results. After all, not everyone uses communities... and maybe don't even know that communities exist.

Indeed, that was a bit better, although still only one other Caturday post in the past seven days.

So what about cats?

Definitely a few more, but still only two posts in the past seven days.

How about the singular form cat?

Nope, nothing much there.

So, then I decided to see if there is such a thing as a "Blurt Pets" community. That pretty much yielded nothing.

While I recognize that Blurt is a pretty small community with not all that many active posters, it was still a little bit disappointing.

After all, cats are pretty much the unofficial mascots of the entire Internet and — although it's hard to arrive at an exact number — there are likely as many as 7.5 billion cat photos posted online... almost one photo for every Hooman on the planet!

According to Data Aggregator Pure Storage, cats likely drive as much as 15% of Internet traffic, if you consider searches, photos, videos, reels and so on.

Contemplating the situuation...

Which leaves me wondering whether Blurt is a "special case" because content here is so heavily driven by thoughts of "will I get a reward from curators for this," as opposed to just straight interest.

Anyway, going to continue poking around in it!
